It is with much sadness that Lou Sommereux, Vice Chair, has taken the difficult decision to step down from the BACN board, due to workload and the need to concentrate her time on her clinic.
She has put in years of hard work, huge amounts of time, dedication and heart into the BACN from its inception, and it goes without saying that she will be sorely missed. For me personally I cannot imagine life on the board without her.
However, I am pleased to say that she would like to continue working with the board and BACN on projects at a different level of commitment, and so she will be working for now with us on the 2015 Conference and will continue also on the NMC revalidation project with Sharron Brown for the time being and for continuity. For this I am most grateful and happy to be holding onto her for a little longer.
I am pleased to announce that Andrew Rankin will take over Lou's position as Vice Chair.Andrew has given enormous amounts of his time working with HEE and with education. He is sensible and balanced, has been on the board for a number of years and so understands the business and the input required from this demanding, time consuming position.
It goes without saying that we wish Lou all the very best and our deepest gratitude for all she has done to build this fantastic association, which has truly strengthened because of her. Her commitment also to the regional groups should have earned her an OBE. She remains as regional leader for East Anglia.
With warmest regards,
Sharon Bennett- BACN Chair
