BACN and PIAPA issue joint statement
BACN and PIAPA issue joint statement on the role of voluntary registers in the aesthetics sector.
The BACN and PIAPA have been concerned for a number of months about the role of voluntary registers and in particular them being used as a basis for the general public seeking reassurance about patient safety and the competence of people who are offering aesthetic services. In order to clarify the situation the BACN and PIAPA have come together and produced the attached statement. This statement reflects current thinking in relation to existing structures and is prior to any announcements by Government on future regulation of the sector. We are both very clear about the role of us as Professional Associations and also the critical importance of the governing councils in determining competence via approved qualifications and registration.
