The biggest event dedicated to aesthetic nurses in the UK is back

This November, the BACN Autumn Aesthetic Conference will showcase the very best in aesthetic nursing, provide expert lectures and demonstrations, and fantastic networking opportunties with medical professionals who are all members of the largest professional asssocation for aesthetic nurses in the UK.

Once more held over two days, at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, the first day will incorporate the BACN Professional Sessions Symposium - a packed agenda of different elements within aesthetics along with a evening networking drinks reception. Day two will feature the traditional and ever successful conference agenda filled with nurse speakers, Key Opinion Leaders, and live demostrations from leading brands that the BACN works with. Expect access to the BACN exhibition complete with industry providers showcasing a wide range of services and products.

She specialises within VAT and has been a VAT advisor for 30 years, including working in-house for HMRC. Sharon Gilshenan, a highly reputable aesthetic prescribing nurse has vast experience in advanced facial injectable treatments. Her specialty is in volumisation techniques and facial sculpting but with a gentle and subtle approach. Sharon has great skill at discreet treatments such as rejuvenating lip as well as offering a wide range of anti-ageing injectable procedures. Historically, treatment of the aging neck has not been comprehensively addressed. There is an increasing awareness of the multi-factorial age related changes to the neck, supported by emerging and compelling anatomical evidence, with growing consumer demand for treating a variety of concerns to this region. This has coincided with an evolving and sophisticated choice of treatment modalities which can target many of these multi-level changes. During this session, we will review some of the seminal and recent anatomical findings that define key structures, as well as explore different clinical presentations with consideration to different modality approaches, supported by treatment videos.

Mel Recchia qualified as a Registered Nurse at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 1997. Following qualification, she worked at Stoke Mandeville in the Burns unit, looking after burn injured patients Mel Recchia Cosmetic Courses and patients undergoing cosmetic surgery. She then went on to work in Accident and Emergency for 7 years. Before embarking on her nursing career, Mel worked as a Beauty Therapist in various clinics as well as running her own salon. Keen to share her knowledge and experience, she went on to pursue a Certificate in Education which enabled her to train others in beauty therapy. Mel made the move into aesthetic nursing in 2007, managing 2 successful cosmetic & aesthetic clinics in Northamptonshire & Buckinghamshire and is committed to ongoing education for herself and others. Mel is fully registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and an active member of the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses (BACN) where she has recently been invited to be a co-opted member of the board. She has also undertaken the V300 independent nurse prescribing course. Mel’s passion for aesthetics has led her to become a valued member of the Allergan Faculty.

Mr Charles East is a Consultant Surgeon specializing in Nasal and Facial Plastic Surgery, Endoscopic minimally invasive sinus and skull base surgery. Charles is extremely experienced in aesthetic and functional plastic surgery of the nose (nose jobs, rhinoplasty) and is also an expert in nasal and sinus disease and how to treat it. He formed Rhinoplasty London along with his partner Lydia Badia to provide specialist advice, treatment and surgery options for those suffering the misery of nasal and sinus problems. Having graduated from the University of London, Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in 1980, Charles was awarded the Hallett Prize by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and continued his training in ENT at Oxford, University College Hospital and the Middlesex Hospital. He then went on to be a senior clinical and research Fellow in the University of Washington Seattle for 12 months studying Facial Plastic surgery. His academic work includes being Honorary Senior lecturer post at University College London and he is course director for the University’s Plastic Surgery of the Nose and Techniques in Facial Plastic Surgery courses, which attract an audience from around the world. Charles is the lead clinician for the Rhinoplasty service at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, and is part of the craniofacial surgery team at University College Hospital Foundation Trust. He works in a multidisciplinary environment treating a broad range of facial, nasal and eye related disorders. Academically he holds an Honorary Senior lecturer post at University College London and is the course director for the Plastic Surgery of the Nose and Techniques in Facial Plastic Surgery-courses that attract an international audience.

She has a true passion for facial aesthetics, anatomy and teaching.
